Description
3 years ago, I was in Nepal to meet with local artisans because I wanted to learning about hand-knotted rugs, a tradition dating back thousands of years.
Citipati, the dancing skeletons of Tibetan Buddhism, reminding us that death is not the end, only part of the dance. Hand knotted over the course of a month by Tibetan refugees in Kathmandu.
Each rug is:
– Hand knotted making each one unique
– Takes one craftsman around 60 days to weave one piece
– Made from 100% natural sheep’s wool
– Extra thick pile 32 x 42 inches size
The devastation of covid wasn’t the sole reason I wanted to work with these artisans. I also believe that this tradition may not exist in 25 years.
Note: Orders will take 3 months to be delivered

ABOUT ME (TREVOR FOSTER)
I'm Trevor Foster
I'm a sculptor and craftsman who's been working with ceramics for over a decade. My journey with clay started in Seattle, where I studied ceramics, but my connection to Thailand began much earlier as the child of antique dealers. After graduation, I returned to Thailand to establish my studio in the jungle, where every piece is still crafted today.
My Approach To Craftsmanship
I believe in making well-crafted pieces that people can actually connect with, not just art that sits on a white wall gathering dust. Behind every object tells a story since everything I do starts with a philosophical inquiry that I turn into an idea before it becomes an object that you can hold.
